Today we had a football match against an English team whom we defeated by a significant margin. I played centre defence as oppose to my normal position, left back. My partner at centre back and I communicated well together so it was hard for the opposition to get past our defence which is one of the reasons we were successful today. I made sure I had his back when he attacked the ball so that in case the opponent gets past him I can be there to kick it away and visa versa. I gave tips to my younger brother who was playing with us out of experience and I made him aware of the players around him so he could act from that. We played very well as a team but I think we should have played the ball more out wide instead of channelling the play through the middle since it gave us difficulties to get close to the goal that is why most of our shots were outside the penalty box and weren't always on target. I think that I, personally, should have at times just cleared the ball away from our half instead of playing it too smart e.g. instead of trying to let the ball just roll out, I should have just cleared it since when I tried to do that I lost possession. Compared to Thursdays after school, I feel that my stamina is better but that might just be because there is more fresh air outside so it is easier to breathe. Tomorrow we will have another match and I think I should try out some new tricks when I move upwards to try and improve my skills and so that I get used to them enough to apply them several times during a game. Maybe I should also try to push up front more often and help the midfielders since as a defender I see the options we have at the sides clearer, therefore when I get the ball I can spread the play out to the wings.
